We are 6 women with six different personalities, perspectives and we are all intertwined. We are neighbours, sisters, highschool besties, co-workers, mom friends and we are all perfectly imperfect. What makes our lives messy is different for each of us, so we thought we’d share a bit about ourselves with you – perhaps you have a similar things you are dealing with right now.
Hi! I’m Mary, the introvert. The girls like to remind me that I’m the oldest but since I’m Asian, I’ll stay 25 until I hit that cliff. You know when you’re 70 and all of a sudden you’re a grandma with a perm? I’m a sucker for 80s music, durian bubble tea, celebrity news and roller coasters. I’ve suffered with acne since the beginning of time and I haven’t lost my baby weight in 9 years. Between 2 kids, a furry Barbet, a full time job and all the to-do lists, life is a crazy ride. My husband and I have never ending house projects that we bond over. This year we invested in a vacant property to build our dream cabin someday so that we can unwind for years to come. I’m tired of the social media highlight reel. I feel it’s important to embrace our uniqueness and our flaws. I want to get back to seeing real people that I can relate to: imperfect and messy.
I’m Katie! I have 3 kids, (with the youngest still in diapers) and several jobs which include Elementary Teacher, ESL Online Instructor to Kids in China, Mystery Shopper, to name a few. This means I’m always busy…but available (that’s a whole other post in itself). I’m a people pleaser and a yes girl so I have a hard time saying no. I’m huge into the sports world – as a player, fan and coach (How could I say no?). I’m always running from one event to the next. I don’t know what downtime is! I love 90’s and 2000’s hip hop/R&B music. I don’t wear makeup regularly and half the time you will find my wild hair in a messy bun. My life is crazy but I love it. By no means do I have it figured out but I take it day by day.
My name is Jen! I’m a proud semi-helicopter girl mom that works full-time and I am also an entrepreneur. I pretty much own the messy bun, getting stuff done committee. It feels like just yesterday I wouldn’t be caught dead out of my house without makeup and my hair perfect. Boy how quickly things change after kids. It wasn’t until recently that I realized I was so busy taking care of everyone else, that my needs were not being met. So now I’m working on filling my cup every single day with things that only bring me joy. If I’m not working, I’m in search of a new adventure to do as a family or with the girls! If my daughter is sleeping, I’m reading or checking out what’s new on Netflix. Sometimes I feel like I have everything together and sometimes I find my keys in the freezer. It’s all about balance!
Hey there! I am Ashley, the baby in the group. I love hiking, camping and fishing, although I don’t get out enough to do all those things. Much like Jen, my big sister, I love Netflix and books and nights in alone. I am however, the opposite of a helicopter parent! I have two ridiculously active boys that I am chasing after all day. Any mom with all boys knows the chaos and messes that follow little boys around. My house is frequently messy with toys strewn about and food and drink stuck on walls. Throw in a Border Collie Lab X who loves garbage food and loaves of bread off the counter and you have a snapshot of the havoc that is my life. In January of this year I took a leap of faith and changed careers. It was terrifying and I would not have been able to do it without the help and support from my wonderful husband. Switching careers has been a godsend. For the first time ever, I absolutely love my job! Of course it comes with its own stresses but I never have to bring them home with me anymore. It has also freed up more time to spend with my family which is an amazing bonus that I hope to take full advantage of.
Hi there, my name is Jenn. I love to cook (and eat), run (because I love to eat), and garden (again because of eating). Personality wise, I am definitely someone who over-analyzes what I said, how I said it, and how the person reacted to what I said. I am currently in the middle of a career change so I am in school full-time. However, I am someone who has trouble quitting things, so I just added school onto my already busy life with two kids, a ton of extra curriculars, volunteering for all the kid stuff, oh and working a part-time job. I also try to keep a little bit of a social life in there too, but sometimes, that is the hardest one to maintain. So I am working on the balanced life thing, as we all are, sometimes feeling like I am dropping all of the balls at the same time. Welcome to our blog and my crazy life!
Hi everyone! I’m Stacey! I’m a mother of two amazing kids, ages 9 and 6! I’m not shy or quiet at all and usually have a lot of energy. I’m the ‘tell it like it is’ friend in the group, with no filter. I am a teacher. I love my job and working with kids of all ages. I coach and do a lot of extra curricular activities which keeps me really busy! For me, I love yoga, running, and wine —not necessarily in that order, although it depends on the day! I love trying new recipes and testing it out on my family and friends. My fellow blog friends say I’m a very generous person as well, as I love hosting gatherings at my place and I like to think I’m there to help anyone when they need it. I struggle daily to manage my time between teaching, kids, family, and ‘me time’ but I am up for the challenge!
